We are continuously improving, striving to make our products as clean – and green – as we possibly can.

We know we don’t have to live in a world where the products we love are detrimental to the environment or to ourselves. We constantly strive to create a balance between Product and Planet, providing you with a clean, sustainable experience without sacrificing quality and performance.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGE DESIGN

To ensure our packaging is  as sustainable as possible, we make responsible, complex business decisions that don’t always help our bottom line. 

We see our  packaging as a constant evolution, and are always looking for ways to improve, adopting new practices and materials as technology improves and new data becomes available. 

We consider the footprint of every step of a product’s lifecycle when designing our packaging. This starts with the material’s original source as well as the energy and resources used to produce it, includes the carbon emissions during shipping the product at every stage, and ends with the ease of recycling or reusing the packaging at the end of its life.

CLEAN, CONSCIOUS INGREDIENTS

Less than 20% of the chemicals in many of our everyday products are assessed for safety in the United States. Some contain ingredients that are clinically-demonstrated carcinogens, neurotoxins, and reproductive toxins that deposit in the body and add up over time, which is known as bioaccumulation.

We don’t put anything in our products we wouldn’t be comfortable using on ourselves and our families. We use natural ingredients, which we define as being sourced from a minimally processed plant or mineral source. 

Our “never” list of ingredients you’ll never find in our body care products:

  • NO PARABENS, PHTHALATES OR SLS
  • NO SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES
  • NO ALUMINUM 
  • NO TALC
  • NO PETROLEUM-BASED INGREDIENTS

LOCAL MANUFACTURING

We’re committed to sourcing products close to home and partnering with other small, family-run businesses based in the US. This allows  us more visibility into our supply chain, and drastically reduces our carbon footprint when shipping product and materials during production. 

For example, the solar-powered filling plant in Southern California where we make the majority of our products is intentionally located only about 7 miles from our warehouse (an estimated 20 min truck route door to door). This results in greatly reduced transportation emissions than if these were located across the country or in different countries (as is often the case).

This short route is one of many examples of what was achieved by setting high standards for our small company to defy the norm and reduce our footprint even in ways not visible to consumers, and we strive to apply this mindset to all parts of our business. 

With the intention to keep our footprint as small as possible, we are proud that : 

  • 100% of our products are made in the USA 
  • 94% of our products are made in California
